I have so many school assignments and life obligations, so what do I do? I work on a game that’s already been turned in. Yep, if my life was a game, I would be at negative points.

This is closer to what I had envisioned. It might actually be more fun and relaxing than the one I had originally planned.

Things I was able to do:

  • Clarified the goal of the game by adding “# / 10” and “Pages” to give the player cues.
  • Added game comments to each object, again to give the player cues
  • Added a timer/energy system to give some urgency to the game.
  • Allowed for distractions to add to/subtract from energy so all objects are playable.
  • Added an alternate ending for when energy reaches “0”.
  • Added commands to end scene: spacebar to restart, escape to quit.
  • Uploaded updated files to itch.io
  • Uploaded list of sources to itch.io
  • Sent out a tweet announcing the upgrade

Problems that still need fixing:

  • Still having trouble figuring out how to anchor my text so that it won’t move into an awkward space at different aspects.
  • Noticed that sometimes catching a paper object will add 2 to the total. I’m wondering if that’s a glitch or if there were 2 papers sent down at the same time.
  • Coding is a bit of a mess. One of these days I’m going to reorganize it.
  • For some reason the changes I made to the bad ending didn’t show up.
  • Should add point change to comments made when objects are picked up. Example: “Excellent! (+1)”

Stretch goals:

  • Would like to create a Finals level where it’s more like Pong and the player has to hit the paper into the website logo.
  • Would like the Pong level objects to affect player speed instead of taking off points.
  • Would like how many papers you get to affect your grade.
